Alan Colvin has a deep commitment to the law, and he feels great satisfaction in helping someone navigate a complicated process who would otherwise be taken advantage of. He believes that the legal system exists to make sure everyone receives the justice they deserve.
A partner at Caldwell Wenzel & Asthana, PC, Alan recently joined the firm and specializes in auto accident and personal injury law. He has a keen legal mind and significant experience in representing clients, and he enjoys a track record for achieving successful outcomes.
“The most exciting case I’ve been involved with was working as the second chair lawyer on a capital murder case when I was just a few years out of law school. A tragic series of events led to an innocent person being murdered, but the things I learned during that case have always been a reminder that there are plenty of people living in very tough situations right here in our community. We should always be aware of that.”
Alan earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Alabama School of Law in 2001 after completing his B.S. in Finance at the University of South Alabama in 1998. With 20 years of legal experience, Alan brings a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to client service with him. He is proud of the law firm’s deep roots and commitment to the community.
“It’s important because it shows we know the community we serve, and it is also an indication of the stability our firm has in the community. We’ve been here, we aren’t going anywhere, and allowing us to serve you with legal representation helps our community just like patronizing any other locally owned business.”
Alan looks forward to helping each and every client and derives a sense of satisfaction by guiding clients, some of them hurting, through what can be a confusing and overwhelming legal system.
“Getting tough with opponents rarely requires being rude or nasty. It usually only requires being firmly persistent – there are some exceptions. Compassion towards clients is always easier when coupled with a healthy dose of listening. You really have to listen to your clients to understand their story and be able to tell it more effectively.”
Alan’s goals for the next several years of his legal career are simple and straightforward.
“My only goal is to do the very best I can for each client I represent, and the rest will take care of itself. Lord willing, I will be doing the same thing five years from now and even farther into the future.”
A native of Mobile, Alan now lives in Mobile with his wife and two children.
