We hope you find this information helpful, and in addition to the foregoing, our clients also ask us the following questions:
Did the hospital bill my health insurance?
In most auto accident cases, even if the victim has health insurance, hospitals opt not to bill such insurance. Hospitals are aware that if you were in an auto accident or truck wreck, you may receive a settlement from your accident, and accordingly, the hospital has a high likelihood of collecting a greater amount of money by placing a hospital lien against you than billing your health insurance.
If the hospital bills your health insurance, such insurance will pay the hospital a small amount of the bill, and adjust a greater portion of the bill to zero. Hospitals are a for profit business, and look for ways to increase their profit margins. Liens allow them to collect a much greater amount of money from your auto accident settlement, and that is why hospitals will often not bill your health insurance.
